1. INTRODUCTION

This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains how Gypod (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website gypod.com and use our platform services (collectively, the “Platform”).

This Policy is an integral part of our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you acknowledge the use of cookies as described in this document. We are committed to transparency regarding how we collect and process your data as you interact with our teaching tools and video infrastructure.

2. DEFINITIONS

To help you understand this technical document, we use the following definitions:

  • Cookies: Small text files placed on your device to store data that can be recalled by a web server in the domain that placed the cookie.
  • Local Storage / Session Storage: Technologies that allow a website to store data in your browser. Gypod uses these to remember your camera and microphone settings so you don’t have to reconfigure them for every lesson.
  • Web Beacons: Small graphic images (also known as “pixel tags”) used to track user behavior and deliver cookies.

3. HOW WE USE THESE TECHNOLOGIES

We use these technologies for several purposes, ranging from essential security to improving the quality of your video calls.

3.1. Strictly Necessary Technologies

These are essential for the Platform to function. Without them, you cannot log in, process payments, or connect to a video session. Under EU law, these do not require prior consent.

Name / Pattern Provider Duration Purpose
gypod_session Gypod Session Maintains your authenticated state across the Platform.
__stripe_mid Stripe 1 year Fraud prevention; helps Stripe assess risk associated with an attempted transaction.
__stripe_sid Stripe 30 min Security; ensures transaction safety during a payment session.
AWSALB / AWSALBCORS Amazon Web Services 7 days Enables "sticky sessions" to ensure your video data packets are routed to the same server for connection stability.
ts / ts_c PayPal Session Secures the PayPal payment gateway and protects against CSRF attacks.

3.2. Functional Technologies

These allow the Platform to remember your preferences and provide enhanced features. Disabling them may result in a degraded experience.

Name / Key Storage Location Provider Purpose
deviceId Local Storage Gypod (LiveKit) Stores the ID of your selected camera and microphone for future lessons.
participant.metadata Session Storage Gypod (LiveKit) Stores temporary status updates within a video room (e.g., "raised hand").
language_pref Cookie Gypod Remembers your preferred interface language.

3.3. Performance and Analytics

These help us understand how users interact with our Platform. We use this information to troubleshoot connection issues and improve our “Material Builder” tools.

  • LiveKit Telemetry: We collect technical data (latency, packet loss, bitrate) to ensure high-quality video for Teachers and Students. This data is essential for technical support.
  • Google Analytics: We may use cookies (e.g., _ga, _gid) to collect anonymous traffic statistics. IP addresses are anonymized.

3.4. Marketing and Targeting

We do not use any data from your private video lessons for advertising purposes. We may use cookies to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns on other websites.

4. YOUR CHOICES AND CONTROL

When you first visit Gypod, a “Cookie Banner” will appear. You can choose to:

  • Accept All: Enable all categories.
  • Configure: Manually toggle Functional and Analytics technologies.
  • Reject All: Only Strictly Necessary technologies will be used.

In compliance with the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) guidelines, we will ask you to review and renew your choices every 6 (six) months.

4.3. Browser Settings

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but allow you to modify your settings to block them.

Note: If you block Strictly Necessary cookies (such as Stripe or AWSALB), the Platform will be unable to process your payments or maintain a stable video connection.

5. THIRD-PARTY INTEGRATIONS

Gypod integrates software from trusted partners. Their use of tracking technologies is governed by their own policies:

6. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Some of our service providers (Stripe, AWS, LiveKit) may process data on servers located in the United States. We ensure your data is protected through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and robust encryption.
